Contracted Settlement Attorney

“I think that after so many years in other parts of law, I wanted to find how I could help in different areas of it, so when the economy took a downturn and many people were losing their homes to forclosure, I said to myself, I’m going to do something about this to help them leave their homes with their dignity intact. That’s how I ended up specializing in short sales.” – Carey Aquilina, Esq.

Carey A. Aquilina, Esq. began her practice of law twenty years ago in Florida as a litigation associate at Harris, Barrett, Mann & Dew. At Harris, Barrett, Mann & Dew Carey handled all phases of civil litigation, including numerous bench and jury trials. Upon her relocation to California she joined the firm of Ropers, Majeski, Kohn and Bentley and continued her litigation practice focusing primarily on insurance defense litigation and premises liability. In 1998, she joined the firm of Hayt, Hayt and Landau as a Senior Associate where she handled Creditor’s Right Litigation.

In 2003, Carey turned her attention to transactional law and accepted a position as a Settlement Attorney at Classic Settlements in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Then in 2008, she joined Tuscarora Title, now known as eTitle Agency in Leesburg, Virginia as Corporate Counsel and created a Short Sale Department to assist homeowners in Maryland, Virginia and DC to avoid the devastation of foreclosure. With her years of experience before Federal and State Courts, Carey was able to create a niche short sale practice that came to the aide of homeowners with the ability to leave their homes with dignity. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors for LAWS, Loudoun Abused Women’s Shelter and lives in Virginia with her husband of 21 years with their 4 children.
